Selva Negra Nicaraguan Coffee is Organic Fresh Roasted Direct Trade coffee beans, grown and picked this season. One pound of organic coffee that we roast fresh on our Cafemino Coffee Roaster. We recommend a dark-medium blend for these coffee beans, which leans slightly on the darker side. The medium beans bring out the sweetness and natural flavors of the actual coffee while the darker beans add that roasted flavor that is loved first thing in the morning.
The smooth flavor from this coffee has prompted many people to say that this is their favorite coffee of all times. Blind taste tests against larger roasters have shown our coffee to be more favorable; two to one. Our coffee not only tastes better because of the superior beans we use, it is also because we use a small batch Cafemino Coffee Roaster. Selva Negra is a remote coffee farm in the mountains of Nicaragua. Over 120 families are provided for by this farm. Selva Negra is an amazing example of sustainability. Their farm not only provides food for their workers, they also provide shelter, medical attention and education. The entire farm is a small city with hundreds of people working together in harmony. The quality of life of all the workers at Selva Negra is very comfortable and significantly above average of many coffee estates. Selva Negra houses approximately 400 individuals during the year, and during the harvest season this number almost doubles with migrant workers. All of these farmers working together create delicious organic green fair trade coffee beans.
Selva Negra is a rainforest alliance certified farm. Rainforest certification is given to farms that protect forests, work at improving communities, have clean water and healthy habitats and encourages productive farming. In 2007, Selva Negra received the SCAA sustainability award for their sustainable practices. Every final cup of brewed coffee reflects the energy and care that is place in these organic fair trade coffee beans.
